Work wear, corporate styles and and business fashions for chic + corporate women.
Chances are, if you’re a full-time employee in a business formal or business professional work environment, with limited funding for your wardrobe, you’re hoping to repurpose many Monday through Friday ensembles over the course of the weekend.
Especially during the summer months, when my after-work and weekend social calendars have more events (no one in NYC wants to go out in February, trust me), I often find myself staring into my closet of suits, pencil skirts, sheath dresses, blouses, etc. and complaining that I have nothing to wear to a friend’s backyard BBQ.
However, there are plenty of ways to repurpose your work wardrobe to be weekend ready. With a little mixing and matching, your traditional 9-5 pieces can easily fit right in at more casual summer get-togethers.
The Blazer - A classic blazer is a work wardrobe staple worn year round in most office environments. Re-work this power suit piece on the weekends with jeans, a t-shirt and strappy sandals or booties.
The Oxford - At work, pair an elegant white oxford shirt with a pencil skirt, or tuxedo trousers for meetings and presentations. But on the weekend, roll up your sleeves (literally), throw on your favorite pair of boyfriend or skinny jeans, some leather sandals and incorporate statement jewelry to create that casually polished look.
The Slack Pant - As the weekend approaches, trade up a silk blouse for a slouchy, cotton t-shirt for an easy going weekend warrior outfit.
