Leather leggings … they’re incredibly chic, urban, modern and often modestly priced. So why doesn’t everyone own a pair and wear them all the time? Why don’t I rock these comfy + street luxe pants when I am cruising around the city on the weekends? Oh yeah, because it’s near impossible to find a pair that’s long enough (tall women stay tuned, I’ve found a solution). And they’re daunting to style. I’ve seen dozens of photos on Pinterest and Intagram of fashion bloggers slaying the city streets decked out in leather leggings, but always felt a little intimidated about styling a pair myself. I had given up on leather leggings altogether until I recently saw a post on the Hof Sister’s Blog about a pair of leather pants sourced and styled in an uber-chic, scandi-inspired look! The next day, Long Tall Sally released their Fall catalogue, featuring a pair of leatherette leggings. The stars in the universe were aligning as I connected with my fabulous friend, and fellow tall fashion blogger Karen of Tall Wife. We chatted and decided to join forces and show the universe that leather leggings can be easily styled and worn by tall women everywhere! As it turns out, these LTS Leather Leggings are not only comfortable and chic, they’re relatively easy to style. I tried to think of them more like a pair of black skinny jeans (that mix and match well with virtually everything). And they look fantastic on everyone, especially tall women. WORK FLOWUnfortunately I am not able to wear leather leggings to my job, but if you work in a business casual environment, this is a great way to maximize comfortable through those long days, and still look fashionable. Pair your leather leggings with a long sleeve oxford, tuxedo shirt, or tunic for a business savvy look. Here I’ve added the Sleeveless Stand Collar Top from Long Tall Sally, neutral suede booties, and a leather bracelet for a little edginess. WEEKEND VIBESFor the weekend, mix leather leggings with an oversized, chunky sweater or large flannel. Add lots of accessories, trendy shoes, and you’re ready for brunch with friends, running the kids around town, or checking out a local hot spot. This past weekend I visited the Nora Gardner showroom in NYC (more on that next week) and sped around NYC in an oversized black sweater, lots of gold jewelry and some black suede booties. Convinced that leather leggings are your new go-to? Be sure to head over to Karen’s Blog to see how she styled the same pair of pants!
