Work wear, corporate styles and and business fashions for chic + corporate women.
As the weather starts to cool, and fall approaches, many of us transition our closets and wardrobes from summer styles to warmer layers and looks for autumn. But what about those days and weeks when the weather isn’t quite cool enough to justify your winter wardrobe? Those pre-fall mornings when there is a chill in the air, but you know you’ll be too warm donning your fall coat.
What’s more, at this point in the year, many women are hoping to find ways of mixing their summer and fall work clothing, in order to maximize their summer styles and get more out of their warmer-weather outfits. Especially if you’re a young professionals, on a budget, or might not be ready to invest in an entirely new seasonal wardrobe (for what’s usually a quick fall season), these in-between weeks can become daunting.
Thankfully, there are some tips and tricks to help you get your work wardrobe through to the winter months. Here are three rules of thumb that I live by for the next few weeks, as we move into fall, to keep my corporate attire professional, but garnish a few more wears out of my summer styles.
Layer Up - Adding a layer underneath summer dresses will give new life to these pieces during the autumn months. A sleeveless or short-sleeve oxford is perfect for the next few weeks, as it will keep your core warmer, and still add an element of sophistication and professionalism to your sleeveless summer dresses. Then as temperatures drop, add fleece tights, leggings, and a crisp long-sleeve oxford beneath these same dresses to help keep you warm and on-trend.
