While the 2016 fall runways have wrapped, the weather is finally cooling down and I am thrilled to start wearing some of my favorite fall accessories. This year, there were a few trends exhibited on the runway that are easy to incorporate into both work wear and street styles during the chiller months ahead.
TREND ONE - (Fur + Purse = Furse)
Plush purses were all over the runway for this season, and I adore how a furse can create a luxurious vibe even from your most conventional look. My fave … the Ilsa Bag from Worth New York. I’ll be posting some winter-worthy looks from the latest Worth NY collection in a few weeks, but this purse is so chic, I can’t wait until then to show it to you. Calf hair, leather, and just enough punch to spice up your work week.
TREND TWO - Pump It Up
Heels are back in a big way, especially sky high pumps … but with cooler temperatures ahead, I’m modifying this trend to include a closed toe and a boot feel. Long Tall Sally has a super chic, on-trend Mixed Material Ankle Boot that I have worn on repeat so far this fall. These comfortable booties feature suede with a snake effect on the front, leather on the back, and cushy block heel (3.7” heel height … if you're going to go big, go big). I have paired these shoes with black skinnies for the weekend, and a black pencil skirt + tights for the work week. Hello versatility!
TREND THREE - Statement Scarves
Ditch your statement necklaces and switch things up this fall by incorporating a statement scarf with your outfit. Scarves are coming on strong this season, particularly those with fabric canvases and visual elements that add interest to monochromatic outfits. My top picks for the season are this Mardi Gras Merino Wool stunner from My Signature Scarf (how gorgeous is the print, seriously), and this Plaid Blanket Scarf from ilymix. I wore both several times during our trip to Italy earlier this month, and I received many compliments on the Mardi Gras scarf for it’s beauty, and was always nice and toasty in the plaid ilymix blanket scarf.

TREND FOUR - Master Mixer
It’s all about mishmashing old favorites from your jewelry box, and bringing new life into pieces by mixing metals. I have been experimenting with this trend lately, and have been continuously gravitating towards two items from my jewelry case. First up is this beautiful Star Ring from Lanie Lynn Jewelry, which I’ve worn for several weekend parties and brunches. The classic rose gold color creates a neutral pallet, allowing for a perfect pairing with other yellow gold or silver accessories, and since it's adjustable, I have been wearing it higher up on my fingers for a modern + minimalist look. And then there’s these striking Egyptian Ear Jackets, also from Lanie Lynn. I love the emerald green color (if it’s a jewel tone it’s for me), but these timeless + elegant earrings also come in a fiery navy blue.
** Sale alert ... use code 'sixfootstyle' at lanielynn.com for 15% off orders of $50 or more. And, these earrings are on sale this week, from Amazon (normally $48, but $33 once added to your cart).
TREND FIVE - THROWING SHADE
As many fall wardrobes start to gravitate towards darker, monochromatic colors, this is a fantastic time to experiment with a new pair of sunnies while the weather is still on the warmer side and that gorgeous sun is still shining! I picked up these wholesale sunglasses recently, and have been wearing them during my commutes to add a little pop to otherwise uniformed outfits. There is also a great wholesale sunglasses distributor worth checking out if you're looking to try a new style, but not spend a fortune on a pair of shades.
